This guide shows how to create member pattern (array), and organize members into groups.
Frame Designer → Edit Model → Pattern Members → Linear Pattern
Why: Start pattern creation. Tip: Use preview when available.
Enter number of copies and spacing in dialog.
Expected: Dialog shows inputs for instances, distance and direction vector.
Set global direction (X,Y,Z) — e.g., Z = 1 for pattern along Z axis.
Tip: Use non-unit components for angled patterns and normalize if necessary.
Click OK and inspect newly generated members.
Use Select Members → Parallel filters to grab similar members.
This speeds up adding many elements to a group.
Why: Double-check selection before creating the group.
Beam panel → New Group → name it and confirm membership.
Use clear names (e.g. Rafters_RowA) for easy management later.
Enter a meaningful group name, such as Top Beams. Optionally enable Use in Code Check to include this group in design calculations.
IMDAS automatically creates additional logical groups based on the pattern operation. These can be used to assign properties or perform code based calculations.
